Color Graded

Blender Raw Output
Software: Blender, Photoshop
Time Spent: 4.75 hours
Completed in a single seating as a personal daily render challenge and is inspired by Max Hay's art style. I attempted to make a simple atmospheric and gloomy render while leaving room for retouching/color grading in Photoshop. The figure and backpack were provided by Ian Hubert via Patreon, while the flame image was downloaded off of Unsplash. All other objects were modeled and textured by me.
Bringing the final render into Photoshop for color grading, my goal was to create an icy and burning hot mood based on how far away an object is from the flame. Using Photoshop's camera raw filters in tandem with adjustment layers, like exposure and hue and saturation, I was able to create a sharp contrast between the warm heat of the flame and the chilly wind of the environment. I saved render time by reducing the density of the atmospheric volume and instead adding them in post by using cloud and smoke brushes during the color grade.
