Software: Blender, SyncSketch
Time Spent: 32 hours across 6 weeks
"Trident" Character model and rig provided by Pierrick Picaut. Animation done by myself, which is inspired by my classmate from high school. This full-twist animation was a movement study of how the human body twists and bends to generate momentum in multiple axes. This animation was completed utilizing IK-FK switching in the arms and legs. The IK and FK rigs switch as the hands and feet contact and leave the ground to create smooth arcs while the arms and legs swing in the air.
Utilizing A lesson learned from Pierrick Picaut's "Alive!" animation course, rather than doing straight-ahead animating using pose-to-pose broken down into Blocking, In-Between, and Splining. This made animating with the full project scope in mind much easier. The software SyncSketch proved very useful as a free tool for dissecting the reference footage. Another lesson learned was to save in iterations. This is to not only have backups for restarting but to use them as breakdowns progressions. Rather than saving in iterations, I had saved over on the same file. Meaning that I cannot revisit my Blocking, In-Between, and Splining stages and are lost to time.
