Project Breakdown
Over 16 weeks during my Geometrical Modeling Workshop course at the University of Central Florida, we were challenged to learn, design, and create an original 3D character utilizing Zbrush, Maya, and Substance Painter. One of my personal goals for this project was to further develop my skills in creating photo-realistic textures, as well as an opportunity to explore and better understand the human anatomy and structural form.
The name "John Battleman" originated as an alternative to an inside joke from my DnD campaign, "Joe Fighterman". It was conceived as a cheeky jab at the classic character archetype of the average human fighter. The character is intentionally designed to embody the stereotypically yet forgettable aesthetic typically reserved for unassuming heroes, background characters, and NPCs in a fantasy setting.
