Completed when getting my BFA in the Emerging Media: Experimental Animation track, in my Intermediate Animation/FIL 3734C course. I am responsible for the animation and film reference; the waitress rig and model were provided for the course. The goal of this animation was to evoke a sense of weariness when coming home from work or school. To push this idea, I animated the upper body to drive the direction as the character moves. This, in turn, makes the feet drag along and have to catch the rest of the body to stabilize for the next step. I approached this animation from a layered/straight-ahead perspective to make the animation seem more free-flowing and dynamic. Beginning with the hips when splining and graph editing all while keeping the feet and chest auto-splined not only helped drive the animation and timings of the steps, but it also helped me picture how much overlap to give the arms and head.
